Susan Thompson, MA, is a certified Jungian-Based Spiritual Director in private practice, a Spiritual Direction Mentor at the Haden Institute, and a Founder of the Guild for Transformational Studies (Jungian-based home study groups, classes, and retreats for spiritual and psychological growth). She engages individuals and groups in dreamwork using approaches developed by Carl Jung, Marie-Louise von Franz and the Haden Institute, and companions seekers as they examine the trajectory of their own spiritual journeys. She has re-visioned expressive writing for use in spiritual direction by creating and guiding ready-to-use, theme-based sessions that invite directees to write to questions that explore challenging emotions, experiences and relationships. At the core of her work is a deep sense of what it means to be human living in the presence of Mystery — that life holds questions meant for each of us to ponder and greater wholeness develops when we unearth undiscovered material in the unconscious and bring it into consciousness through dreamwork, expressive writing, art, body movement and intuitive conversations, among others. Susan is a graduate of Haden Institute’s Spiritual Direction Program and holds an MA in Language and Literature from the University of Michigan and an AMI degree in Developmental Education.
